This week's World Refugee Day is a reminder of the strength and resilience of over 117 million people forced to flee their homes. As Europe moves forward with tougher migrant policy, following yesterday's EU Returns regulation reform, Ashoka Fellows advance a mindset shift: rethinking migration as a source of leadership, innovation, and opportunity. In the United States, Diya Abdo's Every Campus a Refuge developed a practical guide on asylum seeker best practices to equip campuses with tools for welcome and support. In Mexico, José Aguilar's RacismoMX convened public institutions and major corporations to sign a landmark agreement against workplace racism. In Argentina, Laura Zommer's Factchequeado is building an AI platform to empower young migrants with verified information. In Brazil, Maria Aparecida's CEERT launched a tool to advance racial equity in education. In France, Saïd Hammouche's Fondation Mozaïk proposed 10 policy measures to reduce professional precarity for people from migrant backgrounds. And, in the United Kingdom, Shauneen Lambe's Just for Kids Law contributed to an independent policing oversight report that strengthens protections for children.
