Amid the excitement of the UEFA Euro Cup, Real Madrid player Vinicius Jr. shared in an interview a few weeks before that recurring racist abuse, including by stadium crowds, takes the joy out of playing and calls for it to be stopped. This important issue comes to light with Ashoka Fellow Jürgen Griesbeck’s Common Goal response in a powerful video by footballer Carlos Akapo Martínez, and a message encouraging communities to unite against racism in sports.
